In 2017, the first green bank loan was signed with the EIB and since then, the company has broadened its investor base through the inclusion of green commercial paper. At the end of the last quarter, 52% of Vasakronan’s financing was green. Yet today, another corporate green bond was issued, a Skr1.3bn (€145m) deal for Vasakronan, the Swedish housing company. “We launched the first corporate green bond today,” said Christopher Vasakronan, owned jointly by four buffer funds in the Swedish national income pension system, in 2013 became the first issuer of a green corporate bond and has since issued bonds worth 18.5 billion Swedish kronor (1.8 billion euro) for real estate projects that meet the necessary criteria. Vasakronan is a major property owner in Sweden, working hard to green their portfolio. This is their second green bond; we covered the first last November. The bond was issued in two parts, the first SEK350 million at 2.473% interest, the second SEK650 million at a variable (floating note) rate of 67 basis points above 5 year Swedish Treasury bond rates (mid-swaps).
